February 2025 – Contractors have started work on the new wetland scrape in Nontron Meadow, following approval of the nature reserve management plan. This will mean that the flood plain holds more water and should benefit birds, amphibians and other wildlife. It links to the backwater we created a few years ago.
Further works are planned. A new scrape will be created near the Watkins bridge.
A weir will be removed downstream of the Rycote Meadow to improve the flow of the brook and allow fish to come upstream from the River Thame more easily.
Some works in the channel of the brook will also help the flow of this stream so that it is better for wildlife.
